Are there enough threads about this? NO.
When a crappy tank cost 1/2 mill, and good tanks costing 2m, you expect a certain lvl of badassery. And while tanks are bad ass in general, they are clunky as hell. "no ****, they are a tank". Not my point. If i drive a jeep, i feel like im driving on glass. If i drive a tank, i feel like im tying to get my grandmother out of bed.
The Biggest issue i have with vehicles are the sticks. So lets say you are a gunner in the back of the jeep, have you NOT NOTICED that the turret isnt tied to the jeep? DOES THAT MAKE ANY SENSE?! So if the jeep turns right, your turret isnt at a fixed position. So every time the jeep turns your turret doesnt stay with the front of the vehicle. Annoying.
And whoever thought that one stick to drive a vehicle was a good idea needs to be fired. You need duel joysticks to drive a tank effectively for more control. An easy layout to use would be from call of duty 2. Good controls for tanks, felt very natural. The left stick should be the gas petal only. So forward and backward. Thats it. Right stick is turret. L2/R2 should be what is used to turn the tank left/right.
While we are talking about tanks: here is another suggestion. R2. R2?! You know what i mean, hold R2, select 1-3 options that you need RIGHT THEN, aim, shoot at the same time. Good Luck. I understand using 'R2' to switch weapons, but why not tie the armor rep, hardners, ect to the X, Y, Z buttons?? AND LET US CHOOSE WHICH ACTION GOES TO WHICH BUTTON. CUSTOMIZATION!!
I would kill to be able to hit triangle to activate reps while punching square to turn on hardeners. The entire time being able to aim with L1 and smash R1 to lay the law.
Tanks need more control. Atm, it feels bad, and when **** hits the fan (like another tank rounding the corner), if you dont have your hardeners/reps pre-going (which rarely happens) its a WTF shoot till someone dies. And regardless of who dies, that person more-often-than-not didnt get to use his tank to its full potential. |

I have a hard time believing anyone would feel shield tanks are clunky. I zip past the scenery in a Sica.
Im not talking about speed as much as im refering to the single stick for tank controls. Have you tried to back up in a tight spot with a single stick? Its a pain in the neck. And it should be very very simple compared to other controls. |

So i been doing nothing but driving tanks as of late. And while i have the single joystick down, it still is bad. Trying to take a hard right while backing up is near impossible. Or sometimes you want to take a hard right going forward, but your tank wants to back up because the stick is directly to the right and the game cant figure out which direction you want to go. Restrictive. |
